Walkin' On The Moon

After reading Safe Space by Brenden Varma, i was utterly confused. The name of the group is G.A.Y.W.A.D Gay Alientated Youths Who Are Desi. While i was reading this play, i was so confused about what desi meant. I kept thinking that it meant half of something. or maybe that's demi. Hmm...something like that. Finally in the end, through context, i finally realized that it meant Indian. The most annoying character in this play was probably Vikram. Why is he so nosy? Most of the members of this group has never set foot in India except for Gilbert, Vish, and Nausheen. Vikram was super rude towards Gilbert just because he was white. This reminds me of Party in the USA-Miley Cyrus. She wears cowboy boots instead of stilettos, and she "didn't get the memo." Gilbert didn't get the memo that he wasn't allowed in this meeting. Because in fact is of Indian descent. I thought it was hilarious when Neal just flat out said to Vikram "Oh, um, I actually just have one." Vikram: "Nonsense. I happen to know quite a few investment bankers. And I know they never just carry one business card." Neal: "Okay, you're right. I just don't want to give you one, Bye everyone." HAHAH owned. :] What gives Vikram the right to act this way though? Is it because he feels like hes the shit? Or maybe he feels like he's the one most comfortable with his sexuality. It puzzled me exceedingly when Vikram said "After all, where would desis be without their traditions?" Where would any culture be without their tradition? I understand that sometimes it may seem too outdated, and that only the old generation follows these traditions. But if the newer generation doesn't follow these traditions, the tradition itself will die off. Where would we be? What would we be? How would society differ if we didn't have traditions?

Christmas just died.
